Northern Medical Program

Northern Medical Program (NMP) is a joint medical program by the UBC Faculty of Medicine and the University of Northern British Columbia. Along with the Island Medical Program at the University of Victoria and the Southern Medical Program at UBCO in Kelowna, BC (which will be admitting students in January 2012), this distributed medical program was seconded to none of its kind in North America and has proven beyond reasonable doubt to be a highly successful model of distributed education. Through UBC's Admissions Office, thirty-two medical students are welcomed into the NMP annually and arrive at the beautiful University of Northern British Columbia campus every January.

NMP Successes:

The Northern Medical Program has graduated 47 students, half of which are becoming family physicians.

Two NMP students have been invited to be Olympic torch bearers. First year student, Gil Eamer will carry the torch in Quesnel on January 29th and third year student Derrick Williams will bear the torch in Fort St James, BC.
